Surge News invited Union President Sam Ling along to talk about everything from SUSU's under 18 members, his thoughts on the tuition fees system (and its flaws) and SUSU's budget for the year ahead.

At the welcome party Surge News found the under 18's had been allowed into the venue, and asked Sam how the Union monitors them to ensure they have a good time while SUSU remains within the law.

He also talked about the problems with Student ID's being used as proof of age.

With this year's freshers being the first to pay £9k for their university education, the issue of fees also arose, which Sam spoke about - citing the problems he had with this new system.

Finally, Sam also talked about SUSU's budget, which included a four-fold increase in some parts of the budget!
