The Beastie Boys are an American hip-hop group from New York City: Brooklyn and Manhattan. The main members are Mike D (real name Michael Diamond), MCA (Adam Yauch), and Adrock (Adam Horovitz)
The Beastie Boys were the first successful white rap group and one of the few acts from the early days of hip-hop that still enjoy major success. Their rock and punk-influenced rap has had a significant impact on artists both in and outside the hip-hop scene.
Hits have included Fight for Your Right and No Sleep Till Brooklyn, both on the 1986 album Licensed to Ill which was produced by rap-metal guru Rick Rubin, who went on to produce albums for the Red Hot Chili Peppers, Johnny Cash and Audioslave.
More recent hits include Sabotage from 1993 and Intergalactic from 1997.
In 2006 they released the film, Awesome, I Fuckin' Shot That!, a concert film made up of footage filmed by audience members.
