Scouting for Girls were formed in late 2005 by Roy Stride (Lead Vocals/Keyboards), Greg Churchouse (Bass Guitar/Vocals) and Peter Ellard (Percussion/Vocals).
The name Scouting for Girls is a play on words on the renowned Scouting for Boys handbook, first published in 1908 for the Scouts, which provides boys instructions on good citizenship.
Since 2005 the band has built-up a large internet based audience through their MySpace website together with regular chart success on the IntoMusic and Pulse Rated unsigned band websites. They have also played various London venues, including the The Dublin Castle (Camden), the Shepherd's Bush Empire, The Borderline (Charing Cross Road), The Water Rats (King's Cross) and Turnmill's (Farringdon). Not only have they performed at these popular venues, but they have also been fortunate to record a live session for BBC Radio One, frequently feature on London's Xfm and airplay on BBC Radio Two with Jonathan Ross.
