Fall Out Boy is a four-piece pop-punk / pop-rock band from the suburbs of Chicago, Illinois that formed in 2001. Three of the four band members had previously been in underground hardcore bands. While still unnamed, the band asked the audience at a show what their band should be called, and an audience member yelled out "Fall Out Boy," presumably from the superhero Radioactive Man's sidekick, Fallout Boy, on the TV show The Simpsons.
Fall Out Boy's first releases were the album Evening Out With Your Girlfriend (2003) and a split with Project Rocket, both released on Uprising Records. Evening Out With Your Girlfriend has since been remixed, remastered and reissued.
In 2003, Fall Out Boy released what they consider to be their first real album, Take This To Your Grave (2003), on Fueled By Ramen Records, followed by the acoustic EP/DVD My Heart Will Always Be the B-Side to My Tongue (2004). Their hugely sucessful major-label debut From Under The Cork Tree was released in 2005. Fall Out Boy includes lead singer and guitarist Patrick Stump, bassist and lyricist Peter Wentz, lead guitarist Joe Trohman, and drummer Andrew Hurley.
