Enter Shikari mix rock and hardcore with a trance kind of sound with synths, metalcore and punk guitar tunings to leave a truly unique sound.
They were spawned out of a promising rock scene in Hertfordshire (St Albans), England, and were formed while still in school in 2003. They originally played often at their local youth club, The Den @ Pioneer. When they outgrew this venue, and the summer came around, they climbed in the van and hit the road. They’ve rarely ever come home since.
Enter Shikari has achieved all its recent popularity (which has included topping Kerrang's best unsigned band of 2006 poll) without the use of a record label.
The main benefits of this route are that Enter Shikari have never had to listen to anyone else’s advice but their own. Edges that were once rough (and would surely have been smoothed over and dulled by advice from those with an interest in shifting ‘product’) have instead been sharpened by the road, turning Enter Shikari into one of the most exciting, brutal and explosive live bands on Britain’s screamo and post-hardcore scene.
