According to research 29% of people will not trust the ordinary man or woman in the street. We went to ask the people of Poole who they trusted and why. These are our volunteers: Andy, George, Tom and Emma. They represented the different professions of doctors, builders, estate agents and lawyers. Apparently 72% of people do not trust journalists, so Reporter Matt did not take part. Andy was our doctor for the day. They are amoung the most trusted professions and research shows that 92% of people believe they always tell the truth despite some recent high profile cases of malpractice. Andy often ended up top in our polls. George represented lawyers for us. Around 2 million small claims are made each year, so more and more of us are having to deal with lawyers and trust what they say. Many shoppers in Poole thought George was related to Daniel Radcliffe: he is not! Emma represented Estate Agents for us. Polls have found that almost two out of three people do not trust estate agents, and 43% believe they earn too much money for the work that they do. Emma often ended bottom of street polls (nothing personal!). Tom was our builder for the morning. Statistics show that over a quarter of people would not leave a builder in their home without supervision. Our truth volunteers in the Dolphin Shopping Centre turning heads from the people on the escalators. Thanks to Tom, Andy, Emma and George from the Southampton University radio station (SURGE) and to everybody who took part in our survey.
